Tryout Information
Understanding the Process
Whether you are new to club volleyball or have been through the process before, this page is intended to serve as a central resource for Evergreen families. Here, you'll find information about registration requirements, key dates, Volleyball Alberta policies, and the steps involved in joining an Evergreen team for the 2026-2027 season.
As additional information becomes available throughout the summer, this page will be updated accordingly. For the most up-to-date information, follow us on Instagram @evergreen.volleyball.
All information provided by Evergreen Athletes follows Volleyball Alberta’s Signing and Tryout Process guidelines. For support in choosing the right club, see Volleyball Alberta’s Considerations for Athletes & Families for Selecting a Club Volleyball Program document.
Pathways to a Team
There are three primary pathways through which athletes may join an Evergreen team for the 2026-2027 season:
Re-Signing
Returning Evergreen athletes may receive a Volleyball Alberta Letter of Intent (LOI) during the Re-Signing Period that occurs from June 8 to 26, 2026.
Open Commitment Period
Athletes may have opportunities to commit to a club during Volleyball Alberta's Open Commitment Period that occurs from July 1 to August 23, 2026.
Fall and Winter Tryouts
Athletes who have not committed through either of the above pathways may attend tryouts during the prescribed Volleyball Alberta tryout windows.
The Fall 16U-18U Tryout & Signing Window runs from August 30 to September 13, 2026
The Fall 14U-15U Tryout & Signing Window runs from September 12 to 20, 2026
The Winter Tryout & Signing Window for 12U-13U starts on Sunday, November 29
Before Attending Tryouts

Evaluation
Our evaluation process is designed to assess both current ability and future potential. Areas considered during the evaluation process may include:
Technical skill execution
Athleticism and movement quality
Volleyball IQ and decision-making
Competitiveness
Coachability
Attitude and communication
Work ethic
Ability to contribute positively to team culture
Tryouts are one component of the athlete evaluation process and may be supplemented by previous observations, open gym participation, athlete film, and coach recommendations where appropriate. Please fill out the Evergreen Expression of Interest Form in advance of attending tryouts so our coaches can connect athletes and families with information and help our club plan.
After Tryouts
Athletes selected for an Evergreen team may receive a Volleyball Alberta Letter of Intent (LOI) offering them a roster spot.
If you receive an LOI, take time to review the offer and discuss it as a family. Volleyball Alberta requires initial offers to remain open for a minimum of 48 hours, allowing families time to make an informed decision.
Accepting an Offer through a LOI
If you choose to accept an Evergreen roster spot:
Sign and return your LOI within the specified timeframe.
Register as a Youth Competitive Player through Volleyball Alberta's Sportlomo portal.
Complete your Evergreen team registration and submit any required deposits.
Detailed registration instructions will be provided with your offer.
If You Don't Receive an LOI
Not receiving an immediate offer does not necessarily mean the process is over. Coaches may still be finalizing rosters, waiting on responses, or evaluating team needs before extending additional offers.
If roster spots remain available, athletes may be contacted.
Regardless of the outcome, we encourage athletes to continue training and pursuing opportunities to grow within the sport.
