Use the classification chart to find your correct age group. Athletes may play up an age group if developmentally appropriate.

12U – born between September 1, 2013 and December 31, 2014

13U – born between September 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013

14U – born between September 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012

15U – born between September 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011

16U – born between September 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010

17U – born between September 1, 2008 and December 31, 2009

18U – born between September 1, 2007 and December 31, 2008

Early Re-Sign is only open to 17U-18U age groups. Some clubs may re-sign their returning athletes early in June.

Evergreen is not participating in this phase.

Before official re-signing and tryouts begin, Evergreen hosts Summer Open Gym sessions in July and August so athletes can:

– Meet our coaches

– Experience our training style

– Get valuable court time before tryouts

Open gyms are non-evaluative, but may help with athlete identification ahead of tryouts. While attending does not guarantee team placement, coaches may use these sessions to get to know athletes and, in some cases, offer a Letter of Intent (LOI) based on observed potential.

Dates and registration will be posted on the Open Gyms & Tryout page and on Instagram. Athletes will need to register online to attend.

Evergreen is participating in this phase for 18U Women only, from Sept 2–4.

18U athletes may re-sign with their club from the last season upon receiving a Letter of Intent (LOI).

Upon re-signing:

– Athletes must register via Sportlomo by Sept 5 at noon

– Clubs must post roster names by Sept 6

– Club administrators must add signed LOI athletes to their team’s roster sheet in their Sportlomo Club portal.

Tryouts are evaluative sessions where athletes have the opportunity to earn a spot on an Evergreen team. In accordance with Volleyball Alberta regulations, tryouts are age-specific and may result in Letter of Intent (LOI) offers from our club.

To attend tryouts:

– Register online in advance

– Pay $20 per session

Tryouts are the primary pathway for athletes to join an Evergreen team for the 2025–2026 season. Visit our Open Gyms & Tryouts page for full registration details.

Before attending any Evergreen tryouts, all athletes must purchase a Volleyball Alberta Tryout Membership.

Follow these steps to register:

– Navigate to Volleyball Alberta’s “How to Register” page

– Click “Register to Volleyball Alberta.”

– Use the Sportlomo Member Registration Portal

– Select “2026 Youth Development Player Tryout” from the dropdown

– Log in or create a Sportlomo account

– Complete the membership registration, package, and payment (a one-time fee of approx. $22 for all tryouts for all clubs)

Athletes must attend the tryout date specific to their age group as outlined in our Open Gyms & Tryouts page. Please double-check the schedule to ensure you're registering for the correct session.

Here are a few tryout tips:

– Be prepared with your court shoes, kneepads, and water

– Arrive early to check in, show proof of VA membership, get your bib number, and get warmed up

– Help set up the nets and equipment

– Be vocal, as communication counts as much as skill

– Hustle and stay engaged because effort always stands out

– Have fun, get to know other athletes, and be open to feedback

After tryouts or open gyms, Evergreen may offer a Letter of Intent (LOI) to select athletes. Signing an LOI officially secures your spot on a team.

17U & 18U

– LOI offers: September 7–21

– VA registration due: September 21

– Tryouts allowed: September 7 & 14 only

– LOIs may also be offered based on open gyms or school play

13U & 14U

– Tryouts & LOI offers: September 21–October 5

– VA registration due: October 5
